With the purpose to counterbalance the fixed rules and a predominent Western art style of the Japanese society, Butoh dance was born after the second World War to affirm the Japanese culture. At the same time, Butoh dance was influenced by the wabi-sabi tradition, a japanese world view and aesthetic inspired by the Buddhism’s principle of impermanence. Wabi-sabi is centered on the acceptance and contemplation of the imperfection and constant flux of all things.
During the event, we will explore together the tradition of wabi-sabi to embody this philosophy with visual installations, dance performances, live-music, dj’s and a free buffet. The program will unfold along the evening, starting with a afternoon high tea and is followed up by a buffet in two acts. All served in a multi-disciplinary experience. The experimental-noise, electronic pop music and butoh dance will merge together to present an exclusive creation. A fine sensory experience to show the taste of the revolutionary Butoh.
