Starting off the new year as we mean to go on, we’re excited to welcome Irish producer Michael Lovatt to the MSR family with his latest 3 track EP, his first in over 2 years.
Michael makes sophisticated house music with attitude and intricate rhythms. Opener L-train is his ode to growing up in West Philly in the 80’s, listening to hip-hop mix tapes while riding the El train to school. Next up is Mata, introducing a pure driving bass and lush hypnotic chords with a timeless feeling to it. Closing out the trio, Roller is a deep and moody late night groover inspired by the early morning sound of Berlin club CdV.
Michael has been making deep electronic music in various guises for the last 20 years, with residencies in Athens and Dublin throughout this time and now Berlin, where he plays regularly.
Michael has had a string of releases over the years, on labels such as Deeper Shades, Something Different, Ricochet, 3am, Freche Früchte, Cuatro, Mentha and more. With support from such greats as Mike Huckaby, Roger Sanchez, Robert Owens, José Padilla, Phil Hartnoll and Andy Cato, so it’s a real pleasure to welcome Michael to the ever growing Midnight Social crew.
