Special hygiene and safety measures will certainly still be required in September. As the most obvious measure, we will be using a further hangar this year in order to comply with the necessary distance rules. We are in close contact with government officials and are planning for various scenarios to best protect the health and security of all parties involved, exhibitors, visitors, and members of staff. In addition, we develop digital formats that we would like to integrate into the classic fair schedule in order to increase and guarantee our international scope.In addition, the annual special exhibition Academy POSITIONS by Berlin Hyp will take place again, giving young, emerging students and graduates of German art schools an opportunity to present their work to a broad art-interested public at an international art fair and as part of Berlin Art Week for the first time. The aim is to provide the artists with important contacts to gallery owners, curators and collectors, to facilitate the transition to artistic independence and to gain initial experience on the art market.
POSITIONS Berlin is partner of Berlin Art Week, which offers selected exhibition openings held by Berlin’s major museums and institutions, such as KW Institute of Contemporary Art, Berlinische Galerie, Gropius Bau, Hamburger Bahnhof and Berlin´s numerous private museum.

Around 120 galleries from 21 countries offer the international art world a comprehensive overview of contemporary positions while also showcasing works of Classic Modernism. The fair takes place for the first time in two hangars of the historical Tempelhof Airport (entrance at U6 Paradestraße), since its decommissioning becoming a central Berlin location for a variety of cultural activities.
This year more than 90 galleries present highlights from their programs in the fair’s Galleries section. Of note are two collaborative initiatives: six Brazilian galleries join together to bring contemporary Latin American art to Berlin, while four Austrian galleries focus on the medium of sculpture.
The Special Projects section is reserved for 28 solo presentations and curated projects that offer galleries the opportunity to provide a more comprehensive introduction to an artist or to present a thematic juxtaposition of works and positions.
Also new this year is Salon: here, the curator Tenzing Barshee brings together numerous artists from multiple galleries.

Rund 120 Galerien aus 21 Ländern bieten der internationalen Kunstwelt einen umfassenden Überblick zeitgenössischer Positionen bis hin zu Werken der klassischen Moderne. Erstmalig findet die Messe in zwei Hangars des stillgelegten Flughafen Tempelhofs (Eingang an U6 Paradestraße) statt, der als geschichtsträchtiger, zentral in der Stadt gelegener Ort für vielfältige kulturelle Aktivitäten steht.
Dieses Jahr stellen in der Sektion Galleries mehr als 90 Galerien Highlights ihres Programms vor. Eine Besonderheit werden zwei Gemeinschaftsstände sein: 6 brasilianische Galerien, die gemeinsam lateinamerikanische zeitgenössische Kunst nach Berlin bringen und präsentieren, sowie vier Galerien aus Österreich, die das Medium Skulptur in den Mittelpunkt rücken.
Der Bereich Special Projects ist 28 Einzelpräsentationen und kuratierten Projekten vorbehalten, die den Galerien die Möglichkeiten bieten Künstler umfassender vorzustellen oder thematisch gegenüberzustellen.
Eine weitere Neuheit in diesem Jahr ist Salon: hier bringt der Kurator Tenzing Barshee Künstler von mehrerer Galerien zusammen.
