South London music venue, radio station and party series AAJA are relaunching their self-titled record label, with a four-track EP from producer and respected DJ, Controlled Weirdness. Titled ‘Sounds From A Disappearing City’ the release will kick-start a quarterly series celebrating South-East London’s thriving, underground dance music scene.
Due out on 26th February 2021, Controlled Weirdness’ ‘Sounds From A Disappearing City’ consists of four tracks and will be released digitally and on a limited run of 12″ vinyl. The EP has been mastered by Keith Tenniswood (Radioactive Man) at Curved Pressings.
Containing a mixture of acid, electro and breaks, the EP is inspired by his local environment, its hidden history and living in a constantly changing and mutating area of South London. It is dedicated to his friend and fellow DJ, Soho Radio presenter and underground music pioneer, Nacho Martin, who sadly passed away in 2019.
Controlled Weirdness said: “These tracks are inspired by living near the river. Days of random walking and slowly drifting through the streets of South London. Hidden landscapes with agents everywhere“.
Music veteran Controlled Weirdness aka DJ Neil Keating is a producer, DJ and avid record collector with a lifetime of experience. He has played extensively throughout the UK, Europe and the US. Neil has been involved in the underground music and rave scene since the mid-80’s when he first started going out to clubs as well as digging into his growing record collection to play an eclectic selection of tunes at some seminal parties and events.
Residing in South London, Neil has been a part of the AAJA music family from the beginning and is resident and a promoter at local warehouse Venue M.O.T, running an event called ‘Electric Sweat’ dedicated to “underground Electro and jacking grooves all night long” alongside his late friend, Nacho Martin.

The EP provides a deep electronic soundtrack to the ever-changing city of London, with licks of Acid, Breaks and chuggy Techno.”
From balearic house to techno, breaks and electro, AAJA highlights the very best of South London’s underground electronic music scene. ‘Sounds From A Disappearing City’ marks the beginning of a busy release schedule for AAJA, who are set to release a 12” every three months in 2021, with additional digital releases in-between each vinyl run.
Following the CW release will be South East London based, Ekula. The recent edition to the Aaja family will provide a weighty, bass riddled 4 track EP. Which will be released early June 2021. Ekula is part of the simmering SE London, 140bpm breaks scene.
