Woher kommst du?
I was born in Leipzig and grew up there too.
In dieser Welt bin ich in Leipzig geboren und auch dort zum Großteil aufgewachsen.
War die Kunst oder etwas anderes der Grund nach Berlin zu ziehen?
In 2009, I applied to the HTW for a fashion design course, rather to see how the application process works – and was accepted directly. Honestly speaking, it didn’t necessarily have to be Berlin for me, but I came here because of the admission for my studies – and of course I’m very happy about it – nothing comes without reason;) That’s why: Yes, fashion has brought me to Berlin!
2009 habe ich mich an der HTW für ein Modedesignstudium beworben, eher um mal zu schauen, wie die Bewerbungsprozesse so ablaufen – und wurde direkt angenommen. Ehrlich gesagt musste es für mich nicht unbedingt Berlin sein, aber durch die Zulassung für das Studium bin ich kurzentschlossen her gekommen – und bin natürlich sehr froh darüber – nichts kommt ohne Grund ;) Deswegen: Ja, die Mode hat mich nach Berlin geholt!
Wie hat Berlin deine Arbeit beeinflusst?
In Berlin, so many things are possible that would be completely different in other places. When I look at Berlin, I see a big pot full of creativity, of ideas, of innovations, of people who dare to dream – a pot that doesn’t exist anywhere else in this way. This creative and open atmosphere makes many things possible and gives a lot of space. At the same time, I see this pot as a bubbling pot that is not yet so connected with the rest of the world, other „realities“, and in exchange, as it could do. But so many things are already happening to close this circle – Berlin is on its way there!
I tell it all because it’s exactly my process in and with Berlin – super creativity with great, courageous people around me who want to make the world a better place and at the same time build a bridge from there on the challenge of translating these dreams for the rest of the world and getting them down to earth. I believe that the place where you are, does something to you and the other way round – that each person influences the place where they are and makes them what they are.
In Berlin ist so vieles möglich, was an anderen Orten ganz anders verlaufen würde. Wenn ich mir Berlin anschaue, sehe ich einen großen Pott voller Kreativität, voller Ideen, voller Innovationen, voller Menschen, die sich trauen zu träumen – einen Pott, den es auf diese Art und Weise nicht woanders gibt. Diese kreative und offene Atmosphäre macht vieles möglich und gibt viel Raum. Gleichzeitig sehe ich diesen Pott als ein in sich brodelnden Pott, der mit dem Rest der Welt, anderen „Realitäten“, noch nicht so verbunden ist und im Austausch steht, wie er das tun könnte. Aber es passieren schon so viele Dinge, um genau diesen Kreis zu schließen – Berlin ist auf dem Weg dorthin! Ich erzähle das alles, weil es genau mein Prozess ist, den ich in und mit Berlin habe – super viel Kreativität mit tollen, mutigen Menschen um mich herum, die genauso die Welt zu einem besseren Ort machen wollen und gleichzeitig die Herausforderung von dort aus eine Brücke zu schlagen, diese Träume auch für den Rest der Welt zu übersetzen und auf den Boden zu bringen. Ich glaube, dass der Ort an dem man sich befindet, etwas mit einem macht und andersherum genauso – dass jede Person den Ort, an dem sie sich befindet beeinflusst und zu dem macht, was er ist.
Was magst/hasst du an der Berliner Kunstszene?
That anything is possible! Everyone can enjoy life – that’s great. I don’t really hate anything;)
Dass alles möglich ist! Jede*r kann sich ausleben – das ist super. Hassen tue ich eigentlich generell nichts ;)
Wie kommst du in Kontakt mit potentiellen Käufern?
Through my studio and occasional events, such as pop-up shops, I reach Berliners and customers who interested in sustainability and local markets. Social media and online presence is of course very important and helps to reach potential customers In addition, there are more and more networks and initiatives within Berlin, which make it easier to support each other and to be informed about events, information, etc..
Über mein Studio und vereinzelte Events, wie z.B. Pop-Up-Shops erreiche ich Berliner und an Nachhaltigkeit und lokal interessierte Kund*innen. Social Media und Online-Präsenz ist natürlich super wichtig und hilft potentielle Kunden anzusprechen. Außerdem gibt es immer mehr Netzwerke und Initiativen innerhalb von Berlin, die es erleichtern sich gegenseitig zu unterstützen und über Events, Infos, etc. informiert zu werden.
Welche Berliner Künstler empfiehlst du?
Wow…. there are so many great people! I will simply list three, but I would also call them „living artists“:) Simone from SICA – she combines craftsmanship, upcycling and the support of women in Bangladesh in rural areas and creates wonderful bags out of it. The next is Lea – she has several sustainable labels and changes the landscape of Neukölln by initiating shop studios to create hubs for creative collaborations. And last but not least, Runa changes the Berlin landscape through its ReThink, ReFashion and ReFashion events, bringing people together and motivating them to think.
Wow … es gibt so viele tolle Menschen! Ich zähle einfach mal drei auf, die ich aber vor allem auch als Lebenskünstler bezeichnen würde :) Zum einen ist das Simone von SICA – sie vereint Handwerkskunst, Upcycling und die Unterstützung von Frauen in Bangladesh in ländlichen Gebieten und kreiert wundervolle Taschen daraus. Als nächstes ist das Lea – sie hat mehrere nachhaltige Labels und verändert die Neuköllner Landschaft durch die Initiierung von Laden-Studios, um Knotenpunkte zur Zusammenarbeit für Kreative zu schaffen. Und last but not least ist das Runa – sie verändert die Berliner Landschaft durch ihre ReThink, ReFashion und ReFood Veranstaltungen, bringt Menschen zusammen und bewegt sie zum nachdenken.
Kannst du von deiner Arbeit schon leben und wie lange hat es gedauert?
I can live from my work – for me, wokshops and seminars are also part of this work, because for me an important element is communication and the passing on of topics (sustainability, etc.), which I deal with, is part of it.
It is a process that I give as long as the process and I need it:) For me it is bringing together my visions and the world into which these visions are to be implemented.
Ich kann von meiner Arbeit zum Teil leben – für mich gehören auch Wokshops und Seminare zu dieser Arbeit, da für mich ein wichtiger Bestandteil die Kommunikation und das Weitergeben von den Themen (Nachhaltigkeit, etc.), mit denen ich mich befasse, dazu gehört. Es ist ein Prozess, dem ich so lange Zeit gebe, wie der Prozess und ich es brauchen :) Für mich ist es das Zusammenführen meiner Visionen und der Welt in die diese Visionen implementiert werden sollen.
Was war der schlimmste Upfuck im Kunst Business?
When I flew to China for a production and was only supposed to copy big brands – that was the beginning of my journey, to do what I want and to live from it – et voilà!
Als ich für eine Produktion nach China geflogen bin und nur große Brands kopieren sollte – das war der Anfang meiner Reise, das zu tun, was ich will und auch davon zu leben – et voilà!
Du hast sechs Stunden Zeit um deinem Lieblingsmenschen Berlin zu zeigen. Was wird er sehen?
I love to walk through the streets of Berlin and to feel the different atmospheres of the various areas of Berlin – in the small streets you can find the small special places that make Berlin what it is. What should not be missing in any case is the Landwehrkanal and the Turkish market, best if its warm, music is played and the people sit with each other. Prinzessinnen Gärten and the Tempelhofer Feld are also on high positions on my list. But the most important thing is the connection to the person you’re with – if it’s better to spend the 6 hours in a cafe or at home, then it’s definitely a priority:)
Ich liebe es durch die Straßen Berlins zu laufen und die verschiedenen Atmosphären der Gegenden Berlins zu spüren – in den kleinen Straßen findet man die kleinen speziellen Orte, die Berlin zu dem machen, was es ist. Was auf jeden Fall nicht fehlen darf, ist der Landwehrkanal und der Türkische Markt, am besten wenn es warm ist, Musik gespielt wird und dei Leute ausgelassen miteinander sitzen. Prinzessinnen Gärten und das Tempelhofer Feld sind auch weit oben mit auf der Liste. Am wichtigsten ist aber die Verbindung mit der Person mit der man zusammen ist – wenn es gerade besser passt die 6 Stunden im Cafe oder zu Hause zu verbringen, dann hat das auf jeden Fall Priorität :)
Wo gab es deine Arbeiten schon zu sehen?

Auf verschiedenen Events, Modenschauen, Ausstellungen – selbst-, im Kollektiv und fremdorganisiert :)
Welches war die letzte Ausstellung, die du besucht hast?
If you can define the Green and Ethical Showroom as an exhibition, it was this one. I call it an exhibition because there are super great labels there that make the world a better place to be!
Wenn man den Green und Ethical Showroom als Ausstellung bezeichnen kann, dann war es diese. Ich bezeichne sie als Ausstellung, da sich dort super-tolle Labels präsentieren, die die Welt zu einem besseren Ort zu machen!
Was sind deine Vorbilder, sofern du welche hast?
I think I could actually name every person I meet as a kind of role model, because in every encounter and every person I meet I can find something that impresses me, gives me a new perspective and reveals something about myself. Of course, it depends from the indicviudal level of the people.
Ich glaube, ich könnte eigentlich jeden Menschen, dem ich begegne, als eine Art Vorbild nennen, da ich in jeder Begegnung und jedem Menschen etwas finden kann, was mich beeindruckt, mir einen neuen Blickwinkel verschafft und mir etwas über mich selbst verrät. Natürlich gibt es da Menschen, bei denen das mehr so ist und andere, bei denen das weniger so ist.
