Back with his second release of 2024 DJ Matpat collaborates with fellow Philadelphian & singer Fawziyya Heart for a soulful deep house summer jam. With years of experience between both artists this track is deep and nuanced all the while able to hold a dance floor for a moment of bliss.
Fawziyya Heart, a soulful songstress from Philadelphia, draws inspiration from Nina Simone and Erykah Badu, blending funk, jazz, blues, and soul into her music. Immersed in the Philly music scene, she collaborates with bands and Grammy-winning percussionist Pablo Batista in WorldTown Sound System. In 2019, she released an EP of original compositions featuring local talent, with production by Chuck Treece and Logan Roth of Trap Rabbit. Fawziyya’s music, rich with anthemic lyrics for social change and personal transformation, will see new releases this fall.
Starting at the age of 13 with a crate of his big brothers records DJ Matpat has taken the time to develop a sound of his own rooted in House Music, all the while acquiring a wide breadth of musical knowledge to underpin his ethos of „playing the right song for the right moment“. As a producer he has released on a range of different labels including Derrick Carter’s Persnickety All Stars & Stretch Armstrong’s Plant Music. Mat’s productions have gained support from djs such as Kerri Chandler (dropping „Everybody Rise“ on the Essential Mix).
