Friday, August 30th, marked a memorable night as TLKBX RCRDS hosted their premiere event at Blackgold, Vinyl, and Coffee in Amsterdam, celebrating the release of Norah Jane and Razeen’s new single, „Focus,“ produced by Mor.lov. The venue was packed, the atmosphere was warm, familiar, and, above all, inspiring. The sheer talent present that night was astonishing, or as Elton Peters aptly put it, „That amount of talent in one room should be illegal.“ It was truly a blessed evening.

We proudly present „Focus“ by Norah Jane, featuring Razeen and produced by Mor.lov—the second single from Norah Jane’s debut album, released under TLKBX RCRDS.

„Focus“ was born out of a moment of creative struggle. As Norah was working on the track, she softly sang into a BM57 microphone, her voice blending seamlessly with the beat as she sat by the corner of my French balcony. I overheard her quietly musing, „just trying to get my focus,“ and instinctively hit record. After she left, slightly frustrated with her lyrics, I decided to build the track around that delicate hook she had been humming. I sent it to her, and the rest is history. With the foundation laid, we invited Razeen into the studio, and together, we completed the track.

The music video was conceptualized by Milo McCafferty and me, with the final edit by Sam Klement. I handled the rough cut myself. Serving as both the director and producer has been an incredible learning experience, teaching me valuable lessons about the industry, managing expectations, and navigating its challenges.

The track, sung in both Arabic and English, offers a refreshing blend of cultures. Razeen expresses his desire to pursue his passions with focus, conviction, and passion in Arabic, while Norah mirrors these sentiments from her perspective in English. The song breaks stereotypes and defies sonic expectations, aiming to connect the unlikely and bring people closer together.
