You’ve been a big name in the house and disco scene for decades. What’s changed the most for you, both personally and musically, over the years?

A: Thanks! Personally, Im wiser and I have years of experience. I an Artist. It took years to own that title because my heroes were next level geniuses, in my mind. For a long time I didn’t believe I’d measure up. Musically Ive given myself  more freedom and to create what I want because I want to – On the stage, in the club, and in the studio.

Which producers or DJs have influenced your style the most?

A: Most of my influencers were pioneers and forward thinking artists that offered up the music before there was a blueprint… Artists like Frankie Knuckles, Tony Humphries, Junior Vasquez… to name a few.

What’s the most memorable moment in your career that you’ll never forget?

A: Probably my first time playing at Ministry Of Sound in London back in the early 90’s side by side with a few of the heroes and influencers Ive mentioned above. That was major! And a surreal time for me on this journey from my humble beginnings.

How do you handle creative blocks or times when you feel like you’re stuck?

A: First I complete fall apart! lol Then I meditate to clear the airwaves and start again. If times get too tough I have a great team of creative friends who orbit me and I rely on their objectivity.

How would you describe the current state of club culture and the music scene?

A: I don’t think Id ever volunteer a description. Too complicated a thing…. But both are alive and thriving. Unlike years ago, Ive become particular about where I play to get the most enjoyment out it. Im having fun playing music to people who want to hear what I play.

Is there any music project you’d love to work on that you haven’t had the chance to yet?

    A: No. Im good.

What’s the most important thing you try to convey in a DJ set?

A: A shared musical experience. My focus is to connect with my audience and gain their trust as the driver so that we can take a wild ride together. Its the thing I like doing most.
