1951 baut die US Airforce am Columbiadamm ein Kino für ihre auf dem Flughafen Tempelhof stationierten Soldaten – das Columbia Theater. Nach Abzug der Allierten steht das alte Kino zunächst leer. Nach vierjähriger Schließung eröffnete die Halle 1998 als „Columbia-Fritz“ des Berliner Jugendradiosenders. Im Juni 2015 wurde der Club geschlossen. Nach Abzug sämtlicher Handwerker, Denkmalschutzbeauftragten, High-End-Techniker und Architekten, wurde am 09.Oktober 2015 das „Columbia Theater“ unter dem neuen, alten Namen und verändertem Konzept wieder eröffnet. Mehr als in der Vergangenheit, wird das COLUMBIA THEATER als Raum für Konzerte und Clubreihen im Indie -, Electronic -, Pop- und Retro Segment wahrgenommen und etabliert werden.
Für den Neufang haben sich die größten Rock-Veranstalter der Stadt zusammengeschlossen: Thomas Spindler von Trinity und Axel Schulz von Loft Concerts. Norbert Döpp-Veidt (Berlin Konzerte), der mit Schulz schon die Columbiahalle führt. Geschäftsführer Kristian Wolff (ZK Berlin). Eigentümer und Vermieter des Hauses ist weiterhin die Schulz-Veidt GbR.

In 1951, the US Air Force built a cinema on Columbia Dam for its soldiers stationed at Tempelhof Airport – the Columbia Theater. After the Allied troops have left the old cinema empty. After four years of closure, the hall opened in 1998 as the „Columbia-Fritz“ of the Berlin youth radio station. The club was closed in June 2015. After the withdrawal of all craftsmen, monument protection officers, high-end technicians and architects, the „Columbia Theater“ was reopened on 9 October 2015 under the new, old name and changed concept. More than in the past, COLUMBIA THEATER will be perceived and established as a space for concerts and club series in the indie, electronic, pop and retro segment.
For the Beginning, the city’s biggest rock promoters have joined forces: Thomas Spindler from Trinity and Axel Schulz from Loft Concerts.
